The 7th Annual Tough Enough To Wear Pink Horse Show is now in the books. And what a show it was! Stalls, entries, and most important the donation amount, all broke records again this year. New for this year was the Buckeye Nutrition’s $500 Ladies Pink Barrel Race. The ladies were flying around the new J.D. Equipment Pink Barrels and said they are looking forward to the 2014 show.
Saturday started with showmanship at 8 a.m. and the size of the classes pretty well spelled out a long day ahead…and it was. We finished at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, but with the addition of the Wrangler Tough Enough To Wear Pink, Libby Trucco, and Joanne Sprague, there was quite a wine tasting party followed by our live auction. When auctioneer Dan Westlake dropped the gavel the final time, the auction total was $5,015. Almost double the figure for 2012.
Sunday featured our three special classes; the Survivor’s Walk-Trot, won by Sue Mulford; the Loni Grice Memorial Walk-Trot, won by Mary Harwood; and the Heather and Stefanie’s Pink Egg and Spoon, won by Samara Acker. Bruce Brown was assisted judging the Special Classes by Kim Collins, director of events for the Wexner Medical Center and Chuck Strickler, News Anchor for WTVN Channel 10 News, from Columbus, Ohio. Always great to have Kim and Chuck back to our show.
On to the drawing: The Training for a Cure Saddle donated by Osborne Tack went to Anthony Porturica; The Hauling for Hope II Trailer donated by Eclipse Aluminum Trailers was won by Jeanine Whiteside, and The Carting for the Cure Golf Cart donated by B & B Industries to Carl Dowler.
I want to take a moment and try and thank everyone; sponsors, exhibitors and volunteers who helped make this another great charity horse show. Thank you, without each and every one, this show would not be possible. This year’s show was filled with many kind, caring, and giving people. Thanks again!
The All Around Circuit Winners receiving the custom Montana Silvers Buckles donated by Lazy-N-Tack Shop are as follows: Adult, Kara Beth Mitchell; 14-18, Elaina McCarthy; 10-13, Ellie Krock; and 9 and Under, Alexis Pesicek. Reserve Champions are Adult, Kelsey Grose; 14-18, Allie Stein; 10-13, Lucy Eier; and 9 and Under, Karissa Shank. Congratulations to all!
Now for the big news; the check to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Patient Assistance will be $65,000. That brings our seven year total to $222,500 donated to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Patient Assistance.
A Big Thank You to All!
